Experience Points (XP) is a measure of the players accomplishments. Each action in the game gives varying amounts of XP, and these XP gains generally scale with the level of the player and enemies. For example, a kill on a level 30 enemy gives more XP than a kill on a level 12 enemy. The chart below shows the requirements for each level in both the PvE world and the Dark Zone. Currently, the max level of the character is 30, with the max level in the DZ being 99.

Other XP systems[]

Besides the 2 XP systems described above, game modes inside the game have their own standalone XP ranks.

Underground Rank[]

XP earned in the Underground are added to its own progression system. Underground ranks unlock mission lengths, as well as SHD Directives (modifiers) and miscellaneous vanity items. Max rank 40. Underground Proficiency Caches are earned from level ups afterwords.

PvP Rank (formerly Last Stand Rank)[]

Last Stand and Skirmish share a common progression system; PvP rank, which are earned from completing matches in both modes. Progression awards PvP caches and miscellaneous vanity items. Max rank is 99. XP earned afterwords contribute to PvP proficiency caches.

*Currently, the max level of a character is 30. As of 1.4, any XP earned after the character reaches level 30 now goes towards earning a Field Proficiency cache.

NOTE: Division 2 Levels match Division 1's requirements.

Division 2 Warlords of New York[]

Starting with the expansion Warlords of New York, the XP system is getting reworked. Players who own the expansion will now be able to rank up to 40, up from the base 30. XP earned after reaching max rank (30 for non-expansion owners, 40 for ones with the expansion) now contribute towards the new SHD Level system. Field Proficiency caches will be awarded after you reach SHD level 100.
